Why Becoming an Accredited Professional Coach Matters

For Me and For You

October 2025

Earlier in the year, I reached an important milestone in my coaching journey: I became an Accredited Professional Coach with the Association for Coaching (AC).

This wasn’t just about earning a credential or adding weight to my name, it was about what the accreditation represents – both for me personally and, most importantly, for the clients I work with.

Why Accreditation Was Important to Me

When I first stepped into coaching, I knew I wanted to do this work with the highest level of integrity and professionalism. Coaching is a powerful, transformative process but it’s also an unregulated industry. Anyone can call themselves a coach without training, standards, or experience.

I wanted to show my commitment to coaching as a profession, not just a passion. Accreditation with the Association for Coaching meant demonstrating that I’d reached a recognised standard of skill, experience, and ethics. To even be eligible, I had to deliver over 500 hours of coaching with clients, which means hundreds of real conversations, real challenges, and real growth moments.

For me, those hours weren’t just a requirement, they were fundamental in my development as a coach. Each session taught me something – about listening more deeply, asking braver questions, and holding space for people to create lasting change.

What Accreditation Means for My Clients

You might be wondering what difference it makes for you, as a client, that I’m now accredited? Here’s what it means in practice:

1. Quality Assurance

Accreditation is recognition from an independent, internationally respected body that I meet rigorous professional standards. It’s not just me saying I’m a good coach, it shows I have been assessed and verified as being a “good coach”.

2. Proven Experience

With over 500 hours of coaching under my belt, you can be confident you’re working with someone who’s supported a wide range of people through real-life challenges and goals. I’m not “practicing” coaching on you – I’m bringing tried and tested experience to every session.

3. Ethics and Professionalism

As an accredited coach, I adhere to the Association for Coaching’s strict Code of Ethics. That means your confidentiality, wellbeing, and best interests are always at the core of our work together. You can trust the process and know you’re in safe hands.

4. Commitment to Ongoing Growth

Accreditation isn’t a one-time achievement, it requires continuous professional development. That means I’m always learning, refining my skills, and staying up to date with best practices so I can bring the very best of myself to our coaching conversations.

Why This Matters

At the end of the day, coaching is about you, it’s about your life, your growth, your clarity. My accreditation is a way of showing that I take my role seriously, that I’m committed to professionalism, and that I’ve put in the work to be the best coach I can be for you and will continue to do so.

So when you choose to work with me, you’re not just getting a coach, you’re choosing someone who’s proven, trusted, and deeply committed to your journey.
